GPS Consulting Supported The Best Buddies Friendship Walk!

Liza and the boys Cropped

Last month, Liza joined her two brothers in the Best Buddies Friendship Walk held at Brookfield Zoo in Chicago. The Walk benefited Best Buddies International, an organization that matches people with Intellectual and Development Disabilities (IDD) with those with or without IDD, developing one-on-one friendships and community awareness.

Per the organization’s website, “Best Buddies offers opportunities for social inclusion and leadership development as well as support employment programs to provide the necessary tools for people with IDD to become more independent and valued members of our society.”

People WalkingThere was gorgeous weather for walking!

Liza’s two brothers, Austin and Bob, are part of this organization as well as participants in the Walk. Both her brothers are developmentally disabled. Her parents adopted the boys as infants and Liza has had custody of them for four years, now.

Animal LectureThe zoo had an interactive presentation (with live animals) for the walkers!

Liza had hoped to raise at least $200 for this event. She was excited to report that she surpassed her goal, bringing in $1,005! Liza expressed her gratitude to her coworkers, saying, “I work with such generous people, thank you for your support.”

The grand total raised was $97,864! Everyone at GPS was pleased to hear of this fundraising success for such a worthy organization. We invite you to volunteer or donate in order to support their mission of setting up more Best Buddies chapters throughout the U.S and the world!
