The Ultimate Tag Team!

Here at GPS, we’re proud to have real live people running our sophisticated computer-based main switchboard system and not one of those annoying mechanical voicemail systems.  When you call, or visit us, the friendly voice on the phone and the face of our company is either Tina or Patty, the two ladies at our front desk.  They’re the ultimate two person tag team that can ‘wrestle’ it all—everything from greeting and phone wrangling to multi-tasking, which included quickly answering my questions!

The Jason McKie Foundation provides scholarships to children and spouses who have been affected by the loss or severe injury of a parent or spouse, while Operation Homefront provides emergency financial aid and other assistance to the families of service members and wounded warriors.

In addition to gorgeous weather, attendees enjoyed celebrity appearances by former and current Chicago Bears …

A Welcoming Office

Yancy’s office is one where you want to linger.  Featuring the muted earth tones as well as the rustic textures of Tuscany, his arrangement of art, photos, books and furniture is full of warmth.  Yancy was kind enough to share a few tips for others interested in creating a similarly inviting work space.

Décor Should Move You

The focal point is a dramatic painted canvas of a floral arrangement which is nearly half the size of the wall.  It was the first item that Yancy picked up for the office.  He explained that he looks for something to grab him—something …

GPS Consulting Organizes a ‘Dress For Success’ Clothing Drive

Aware that the right outfit can greatly influence self-confidence and may make the difference for someone struggling to find employment, GPS employees are collecting new and gently used business attire—suits, shirts, sweaters, pants, skirts, trousers, dresses, ties, belts, and shoes that are appropriate for job interviews.  We’re cleaning out our closets of clothing that may have been the wrong size or color to benefit recipients at the Howard Area Community Center.  The Center provides career and skill training, among other services, helping people to find jobs.

GPS: Where the Buffaloes Roam

Visitors to the GPS headquarters in Buffalo Grove, Illinois are greeted by a life-size 4’ by 8’ fiberglass buffalo statue.

Purchased a while back as a business supporting Buffalo Grove’s ‘Buffaloes on Parade’ art gallery event, which featured custom painted statues, our buffalo has resided by our front driveway ever since.

Keeping our buffalo in tip-top shape has required some light maintenance. A few touch ups are required throughout the year.  Then, every spring, his ‘GPS logo matching blue’ coat, accented by white, is completely reapplied.…

Talking with the Top Dog, Matthew Nichols, at Buns gone WiLD

At GPS, one of the highlights of the week is when the Buns gone WiLD cart shows up in the employee parking lot for our version of tail-gating.  We asked Matthew Nichols, the ‘Top Dog’ at Buns gone WiLD, a few questions about his mobile business.

What’s the best part of running your own hot dog/brat/polish vending business?

Making people happy and meeting some really interesting people.

I noticed that you offer both traditional Yellow and Dijon Mustard–has anyone ever said, “Would you please pass the Grey Poupon?”

No, I can’t say that I have, although there has been quite

The GPS 2013 Annual Meeting Was Educational & Fun!

GPS employees had flown in from throughout the U.S. to learn the most up-to-date information about the newest Federal regulations and tax changes facing our business clients as well as to discuss best practices at our 2013 Annual Meeting.

President Tyler Burgess opened the event by sharing a personal story about a close friend that had fought, achieved remission, but then lost the battle with cancer.  He then announced that our on-going corporate fundraising for the fight against cancer as well as numerous other charities had reached a total of over 2.5 million dollars as of 2013.

After a long …
