Merry Christmas From GPS!

Our Buffalo mascot is dressed for the season (he also can be found sporting a ‘stash for Movember)!  Wishing all our employees, families, friends, partners and clients a very merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year!…

Poinsettias Bring Holiday Cheer!

After Thanksgiving, it’s a tradition to have poinsettias delivered to every department, decorating our common areas and desks throughout GPS. This year, 90 plants were ordered. Ken loaded the office cart and made the multiple trips required to distribute the traditional Christmas red plants to many happy recipients.

Isn’t this the healthiest looking one year old Poinsettia that you’ve ever seen?

Not only do our employees enjoy the poinsettias over the holiday season, but a few have managed to keep their plants alive until next year’s replacement arrives (no luck with making any of these plants re-bloom, although it …

Taking Our Food Drive To New Heights!

Sears? Willis? Nope, it’s the ‘Cereal’ Tower!

Inspired by canstruction, we built our own sculpture to launch our annual Food Drive at GPS. Last year, we featured the American flag, which is pretty hard to top, both thematically and design-wise, but we finally arrived at our Cereal Tower concept (based on a famous Chicago skyscraper, one of the tallest buildings in the world).

Thinking Inside the Box!

Cans are a terrific way to package non-perishable food, but we experienced some issues with stability when building using cans. Going higher wasn’t possible without some sort of infrastructure not made …

We Supported Miss Wadsworth’s Team For NephCure!

Martha’s daughter Emily was diagnosed with a disease of the kidneys in December 2011. She has experienced many complications and numerous hospitalizations. At this time, there is no cure. As the current Miss Wadsworth, Emily led a team at the NephCure Walk to fund further research towards discovering new treatments and, hopefully, a cure.

Emily poses with two young NephCure Walk participants.

Eat, Drink And Be Scary!

Our Halloween party was a wicked good time with everyone contributing their talents.  Plenty of creativity was on display with spider deviled eggs, wormy graveyard pudding cups, werewolf cupcakes, and cheesy witches’ brooms.  Harvest classics such as apple cider, caramel corn, taffy apples and pumpkin pie were also served.  Lastly, for the child in all of us—there were two huge buckets of candy!

The party was spooktacular!…

Halloween Gingerbread House Building!

Our front desk receptionists, Carmen and Tina, worked together to create a Halloween themed gingerbread house that will be raffled off to benefit a local charity. It’ll be on display at the front desk, welcoming all visitors, until the day before Halloween when our raffle winner is announced.

Carmen is ready to raise the roof!

Truly a blank slate!

Tina painstakingly adds the haunting details!

The finished project is a total treat!

This Halloween gingerbread house has wicked curb appeal! Some lucky person at GPS will be able to decorate their desk with this demented masterpiece or take it home …

Motto For The GPS Blood Drive: Be Someone’s Hero!

Although, it’s not the only motivation, donating blood to the American Red Cross means that you’re someone’s hero. One donation has the potential to save three lives.

While many people may think that they’ll never need blood, it’s required for many modern medical procedures and benefits “accident victims, cancer patients, surgical candidates, children with blood disorders and many others,” per the Red Cross.

Clients sometimes say that we’re lifesavers. Well, that’s the literal truth during the Blood Drive!

The Splendid Colors of Summer!

With warmer temperatures, summer outfits saturated in color have started appearing in our offices. Whether inspired by the neon hues of the players’ attire/footwear from the World Championship Soccer teams or the fluorescent fashion from the runways of New York, Paris and Milan—GPS can only be described as being colorful. We’re all over the color chart! Vivid pastels and primary colors that glow can be seen, sometimes balanced by neutrals and, other times, full head-to-toe luminosity is being displayed. All we can say is, “Orange it grand!”

A Scrapbook For A Baby Girl!

Surprise! Carmen had no idea that Tina was hosting a ‘desk baby shower’ for her.   Baby themed décor and a huge pile of gifts let everyone passing by that it wasn’t business as usual at GPS.

A lavish spread, including pickles, was set out to tempt the appetite for our expectant mother-to-be as well as all our guests. Everything looked picture-perfect!

Carmen and a coworker struck a pose, proudly showing off their bellies! We all stopped by, including President Tyler Burgess, to congratulate Carmen and share our best wishes for her baby girl expected in August.

Our Annual Baseball Outing

Perks of Working at GPS

GPS employees felt very appreciated at the annual baseball outing, held at our favorite Wrigleyville rooftop venue. We rooted for the home team as the Chicago Cubs battled the Washington Nationals. There was an exciting fourth inning when the teams were tied 2-2, but, unfortunately, the Cubs ended up losing 2-7. Still, we enjoyed the all-inclusive selection of burgers, brats and dogs (plus some really incredible nachos with all the toppings), along with salads, chips and tons of desserts including ice cream. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect.  It was a wonderful day to hang out with family and …
