Birthday Butterfly Explosion At GPS Consulting!

Birthdays at GPS are a celebration and not for the bashful or shy! We all stopped by Paula’s desk to wish her a Happy Birthday. There were plenty of streamers, balloons and butterfly themed decorations (including a cupcake stand and noise-makers) to cue us in that it was her special day.

Happy Birthday, Paula!…

GPS Reviews: Distributor & Dealer Needed The Culture Changed

GPS-Consulting-Reviews

Situation

A distributor and dealer of farm equipment, supplies, and services, hired GPS for an enhancement project, so that his business would, in the words of the client, “continue to grow and be viable for the future of our customers, employees, and my family”

Process

From the day that the GPS team arrived, “we have been examining, soul searching, stretching, learning and growing. I find that all of these things are somewhat painful and extremely challenging, but, at the same time, necessary for what we want to accomplish.”

The GPS consultant “has been very helpful in this process. All of

The Dumbest Farmer Grows The Biggest Potatoes

GPS expert discusses Sales Management and Training

Years ago, a young man was hired by a Wall Street brokerage house to become a stock broker.  The process required a six month training period, followed by the successful passing of a difficult New York Stock Exchange examination.  One day, early on in this training period, the young man was busy at his desk studying the rules and regulations of the industry, when a well established broker within the firm walked by.

This very successful broker was a legend among the many brokerage houses clustered on LaSalle Street in Chicago, because he wasn’t a classically trained and educated financial …

We Deconstructed Our Food Drive!

First, the Christmas tree came down, then, the Tower!

The ‘Cereal’ Tower, our homage to the Willis Tower (or the Tower formerly known as Sears) landmark, had served its purpose of inspiring our greatest Food Drive ever at GPS to help fight hunger in our local community. Across all of our departments, we collected a total of sixteen bins of food! It was now time to take down this sculpture and have the 98 boxes of cereal delivered to the Libertyville Food Pantry. Joshua and Sean volunteered for deconstructing and packing away the Tower’s six stories of Total, Cocoa …

GPS Reviews: Growth Had Stagnated

GPS Consulting Revved Up Growth for this Auto Repair Business

Situation

The owner of an auto repair business hired GPS to assist in making the changes to rev back up steady growth. “I had started in 1991 as a one man operation. Now, this facility employs 28 people and repairs 2,500 cars a year. It had grown, exponentially, until about six years ago, when it pretty much has remained the same.”

Process

“What I needed next, to continue growing, was exactly what GPS had to offer–the tools on how to run a business and not just how to fix cars.

That is exactly what I received from GPS and I

Waiting for Santa…

Santa has finally arrived and, boy, do we have cookies for Santa!

The GPS Holiday Cookie Exchange Party was a festive gathering. Tons of creativity was on display from office decorations to a miniature Santa and his Sleigh centerpiece (an awesome job by Deb). We also enjoyed Hot Chocolate Cupcakes, Santa Hats, Powered Donut Snowmen, and a Cornflake Holiday Wreath, among many other sweet treats. Everyone had the opportunity to sample cookies and share recipes!

Santa and his reindeer are dashing through the snow!

“May I offer you a cup of Hot Chocolate?”

We hope that everyone …

GPS Reviews: The Business Now Has Direction

Situation

The client brought in GPS to assist with expanding his relatively new automotive dent/hail damage repair business. “I don’t have a college background, so that going through this process was a necessity for my growing company.”

Process

Financial and management systems were implemented along with processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs.

The GPS consultant was, obviously, very intelligent, but he was able to explain things in a way that everyone could understand.”

I have learned about profit and loss statements and balance sheets. I have also learned about staying compliant in the eyes of the IRS.

A Rant and Some Resolution For Business Owners

Sometimes, when we have time to digest the 24/7 information explosion that has unfortunately become the norm, you have to say to yourself, “what are we doing!” The proverbial ‘WE,’ meaning ‘WE’ as a society appear to be so lost, out of control, disoriented, discombobulated, immune, unaffected and cynical, that even the most horrific of circumstances that we encounter fail to make an emotional dent in our daily lives.

We seem to have come to the conclusion, if we are not immediately impacted, that there is no consequence. Natural disasters, sad, but unless we are the victim, oh well… Genocide, …

Poinsettias Bring Holiday Cheer!

After Thanksgiving, it’s a tradition to have poinsettias delivered to every department, decorating our common areas and desks throughout GPS. This year, 90 plants were ordered. Ken loaded the office cart and made the multiple trips required to distribute the traditional Christmas red plants to many happy recipients.

Isn’t this the healthiest looking one year old Poinsettia that you’ve ever seen?

Not only do our employees enjoy the poinsettias over the holiday season, but a few have managed to keep their plants alive until next year’s replacement arrives (no luck with making any of these plants re-bloom, although it …
