Client from an oil and gas field services company scheduled a return engagement with GPS Consulting “to try to put us back on track after several years of not carrying out all of the things that our first consultant had set up. Our company was working hard, making money, but not planning. I would say that we were flying by the seat of our pants.”
The future of the company would quickly become the focus of this project.
Process
Moving beyond diagrams and discussions of business practices, the GPS consultant, “took the time to go into the field and see the challenges that we faced with personnel and customers. He also recognized and was able to talk with my partner about his future retirement and made him understand the importance of training a replacement, or replacements, for him.”
The consultant worked with the client’s daughter, “building up her confidence about her abilities to someday take over my job. He has implemented financial forms that she will run each month, revealing our labor burden, break even and sales—to name a few. He also was able to show my partner how valuable she is to the future of our company.”
Additionally, he was able to convey, to both partners, the importance of “inventory control, job tracking and improving employee relations to the continued growth of the company. Even when we did not always agree, he was able to look at both sides and help us come to a suitable outcome.”
